Ludum Dare 44: Dragon's Den

This was my entry for the Ludum Dare 44 game jam that required participants to create a game within 48 hours to the theme of "Your life is currency".

For this jam entry I wanted to create a really simple game and based the play style off of the arcade game Rootbeer Tapper as well as a couple of Game & Watch titles.

For this jam I gave myself a personal challenge to fit all of my artwork within Pico8's tiny screen resolution of 128x128 pixels, whilst restricting sprites to use only 3 colours.
By making all of the animated sprites with only two frames I was able to focus most of my jam time on coding and game play improvements.

Out of a total of 2538 entries into the LD44 jam, the game proved to do quite well during the voting round with the following cetgory results:
Overall: 128th
Fun: 178th
Innovation: 465th
Theme: 428th
Graphics: 368th
Audio: 131st
Humor: 182nd
Mood: 388th

You can play the game here:

This initial playfield from the Jam was confusing to players due to the pathways and pits appearing non-crossable.
